Abstract
This study aims to identify and analyze the problems in teaching Arabic speaking skills among the students of Al-Liwa’ Institute (Senior Level) Gowa and to formulate the proposed solutions to overcome those problems. Speaking skill is considered one of the most important language skills because it serves as the primary tool of communication in Arabic learning. However, many students still encounter difficulties in expressing ideas fluently and accurately in Arabic. This research employed a qualitative descriptive method through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and students at the institute. The results of the study indicate that the problems in teaching speaking skills are caused by several factors, including limited vocabulary mastery, lack of confidence, fear of making mistakes, insufficient language practice, and the limited use of Arabic in daily communication. In addition, some teaching methods are still less interactive and fail to encourage active student participation. Environmental factors and the lack of supporting language activities also contribute to the students’ weak speaking ability. Therefore, the study proposes several solutions, such as strengthening the Arabic language environment, implementing interactive teaching methods, increasing speaking practice activities, and motivating students to use Arabic actively in their daily lives.
