An Analysis of Islamic Preaching (Da'wah) Values in the Novel The Prince and the Last Janissary تحليل القيم الدعوية في رواية "الأمير وآخر الإنكشاريين"

Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of utilizing literary works as a medium of da’wah capable of conveying Islamic values contextually and persuasively. The novel Sang Pangeran dan Janissary Terakhir was selected because it combines elements of history, struggle, and Islamic values that are relevant to shaping the character of contemporary Muslim preachers (da’i). This study aims to analyze the da’wah values contained in the novel and explain their relevance to the formation of a preacher’s personality. The research employed a qualitative approach using library research methods. Data were collected through documentation techniques by identifying quotations containing da’wah values and were analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods. The findings reveal that the novel contains various da’wah values, such as steadfastness, sincerity, exemplary conduct, cooperation, courage, reliance on God, and noble character. These values are conveyed through dialogues, conflicts, and character development, thereby creating educational and reflective da’wah messages. This study concludes that Islamic historical novels can serve as effective media for da’wah in instilling moral and spiritual values while supporting the formation of preachers’ character in accordance with the challenges of modern society.
