Analysis of Personal Values in the 2020 Sixth Grade Arabic Textbook

Abstract

The Arabic language textbook for sixth grade, published by the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs in 2020, serves as an effective medium for teaching personal values, as it contains positive behaviors that help students learn and develop good morals. This study aims to identify the personal values embedded in the textbook and examine how these values are presented through reading texts and dialogues. Using a descriptive-analytical method within a qualitative library research framework, the study involved reviewing and analyzing various books, research articles, and other relevant sources related to personal values, which were then summarized and presented. The results revealed that the textbook contains 14 out of the 18 personal values stipulated by the National Education Ministry, including religious attitudes, honesty, and discipline, while lacking values such as tolerance, creativity, democracy, and patriotism. A total of 51 sentences reflecting personal values were found, comprising 10 explicit and 41 implicit sentences, with religious values being the most frequently mentioned. This study concludes that the textbook is a valuable educational resource and can be effectively used in teaching personal values at the elementary school level.
