Abstract
Arabic is considered the most honorable language in the world, as the Holy Quran was revealed in it, and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ spoke in it. The science of Arabic rhetoric (balaghah) comprises three branches: 'ilm al-ma'ani, 'ilm al-bayan, and 'ilm al-badi'. The branch of 'ilm al-ma'ani governs the study of insha' al-thalabi — a form of performative speech demanding something not yet realized — which encompasses command (amr), prohibition (nahy), interrogation (istifham), wishing (tamanni), and calling (nida'). Juz Twenty-Five of the Quran, comprising Surah Fussilat (partial), al-Shura, al-Zukhruf, al-Dukhan, and al-Jathiyah, is particularly rich in these five styles. This study aims to identify and analyze the rhetorical meanings of insha' al-thalabi in Juz Twenty-Five, and to propose a pedagogical framework for using these styles in teaching Arabic to second-year students at Ar-Raayah University. Using a descriptive-analytical library-based method, this research analyzes 64 imperative sentences found in Juz Twenty-Five: 28 command, 6 prohibition, 23 interrogation, 1 wishing, and 6 calling sentences. Many occur with figurative rather than literal meanings. The research proposes structured exercises linking Quranic verses to communicative Arabic language skills.
