Abstract

The objective of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview of the linguistic environment at Pondok Pesantren At Tarbiyah, with a focus on the analysis of language activities in the development of language skills. The establishment of an effective language environment has been shown to facilitate the acquisition of Arabic, particularly in the domain of speaking skills, by students. Furthermore, the incorporation of language activities has been demonstrated to contribute to the organisation of life at the institute and the enhancement of students' language skills. The present research employs a qualitative approach, utilising a descriptive-analytical method based on field research and qualitative data analysis. This approach is employed to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of the formation of the language environment and language activities at At Tarbiyah Islamic Boarding School. The results indicated that the language environment at Pondok Pesantren At Tarbiyah has undergone a gradual development over three distinct phases, each of which has been characterised by specific steps and procedures aimed at promoting the use of Arabic among learners. A conducive language environment fosters an optimal atmosphere conducive to the spontaneous and continuous development of language skills, both during and outside of conventional teaching hours. Language activities serve to activate this environment by offering interactive and educational opportunities, thereby enabling students to apply their language skills in a practical setting.
