Abstract
This research study investigated the interference of the students' mother tounge on their Arabic speaking skills. The study focused on female students in the Arabic Language Preparation Department at STIBA Arraayah Sukabumi. The researcher aimed to identify the types of mother tounge interference affecting the students' spoken Arabic. A descriptive-analytical method with a qualitative approach was employed. Data was collected through individual and group interviews, observation, and document review. Miles and Huberman's model was used for data analysis. The study highlights the significant impact of mother tounge interference on the development of Arabic speaking proficiency among these students. The results of this study revealed that there is indeed mother tongue interference in Arabic speaking skills among students in the Language Preparation Department at STIBA Arraayah Sukabumi, which includes interference at the phonetic, grammatical, syntactic, stylistic, and vocabulary levels. The interference of the mother tongue in the speaking skills when learning a second language is considered a defect that needs to be addressed to improve speaking proficiency.
