Da‘wah Planning According to Shaykh Muḥammad Aḥmad al-Rāshid and Its Benefits for the Contemporary Da‘wah Reality in Indonesia

Abstract

Da'wah Amid the various challenges facing Islamic da‘wah in Indonesia, the need for systematic da‘wah planning has emerged as a necessary means to ensure its effectiveness. The researcher chose this topic due to the significance of Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Ar-Rashid's thought in this field, and to explore the potential application of his ideas in the contemporary Indonesian da‘wah context. This study aims to examine Sheikh Ar-Rashid’s da‘wah planning approach and aspects applicable to the Indonesian da‘wah reality, especially self-reform before preaching, setting visions and goals, gradual implementation, drawing from the experiences of predecessors, utilizing social media, preacher flexibility, and continuous evaluation. The researcher adopted a descriptive-analytical method using library research, analyzing Ar-Rashid’s works such as Al-Munṭalaq and Al-Masār, among others, and comparing their content with the current da‘wah situation in Indonesia. The study found that Ar-Rashid emphasizes the preparation of the preacher, goal setting, gradual da‘wah approach, and regular evaluation—elements that align well with the complex and diverse Indonesian context. The study concludes that Ar-Rashid’s da‘wah planning model serves as a valuable reference for developing more effective and realistic contemporary da‘wah strategies, enhancing the performance of da‘wah institutions and preachers in addressing current challenges.
