Abstract
The Arabic language is truly essential for Muslims as it is the language of their holy book, the Quran, and is also the official language of all Arab countries and widely spoken in many other nations. When discussing language, we cannot overlook its fundamental components, which consist of three elements: phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar. Reading is a fundamental skill in learning Arabic and plays a crucial role in shaping an individual's character. Female students at STIBA Ar Raayah have recognized a relationship between understanding Arabic grammar and reading proficiency, especially since all textbooks at STIBA Ar Raayah are in Arabic. However, the strength of this relationship—whether weak or strong—remained unclear. The researcher aimed to examine students' ability to comprehend Arabic texts without visual aids, focusing particularly on their mastery of grammatical rules. The research methodology employed in this study was a descriptive quantitative approach. The study population consisted of female students from the faculty at STIBA Ar Raayah, Sukabumi. After analyzing the results regarding students' understanding of Arabic grammar and their Arabic text reading skills, the researcher summarized the degree of correlation between these two variables using correlation coefficients. The results indicated a moderate relationship, with a correlation coefficient of 0.586820, suggesting a significant connection between grammatical comprehension and reading proficiency. Based on these findings, the researcher formulated an appropriate hypothesis aligned with the analysis results. In this study, the researcher hypothesized that students with a strong understanding of Arabic grammar would also demonstrate good Arabic text reading skills.
