Abstract
The Arabic language holds a big role in understanding Islamic religious texts, as they are conveyed in clear Arabic speech. It is also an inseparable part of Indonesian society, given that Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world. With the spread of Islam, Islamic schools and universities are spreading, including STIBA Ar-Raayah, which is well known for its Arabic language. STIBA Ar-Raayah comprises various academic departments that share some subjects while differing in others. This research aims to compare the speaking skills of female students in the Islamic Broadcasting and Communication Department —where most specialized subjects are taught in Indonesian—with those in the Arabic Language Education Department. The reason for selecting speaking skills among other language skills is that language is fundamentally based on speech. This study is a quantitative research using the Mann-Whitney U test. The research results indicate that the Assym. Sig (2-tailed) value of their speaking skills test results is 0.002, indicating a statistically Assym. Sig (2-tailed) difference in speaking skills between them. The students of the Arabic Language Education Department achieved higher scores, with a mean difference of 2.21.
