Abstract

The lack of focus on developing speaking skills has a negative impact on communication efficiency, which reduces the ability of individuals to absorb and exchange ideas. One of the extracurricular activities that exist at PPM AL-IKHLAS is an additional lesson for those who want to learn more in Arabic, and this activity is called Muhadatsah, and this study aims to find out how the implementation of Muhadatsah activities in the development of speaking skills of PPM AL IKHLAS, as well as to find out its impact. This type of research is descriptive quantitative, and the data collection methods followed by the researcher include observation, distributing questionnaires, conducting interviews and consulting relevant references and documents, and these data are analysed by descriptive quantitative methods to obtain the final results of this study. (1) The additional activity ‘Conversation’ in the development of speaking skills among high school students is one of the activities held twice a week, which aims to develop speaking skills and Arabic speaking habits, and it is organised in cooperation between the management of the institution and the language department to conduct this activity. (2) The result of the influence of the ‘Conversation’ activity is that the significance value is 0.00, which is less than 0.05, which means rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho) and accepting the alternative hypothesis (Ha), which indicates that the level of influence of the ‘Conversation’ activity is 0.00.
