Abstract
Common vocabulary is the foundation of effective language communication, and it changes over time. Given the importance of the Al-Munawwir dictionary in the Indonesian context, this study aims to identify its common vocabulary (from the words "ibtighaa" to "bayd" as examples) and compare it with the "common vocabulary list in Arabic." This is very important because no previous research has discussed the use of common vocabulary. This study is unique in its originality and contribution in extracting common vocabulary from the Al-Munawwir dictionary. This study uses a descriptive, analytical, and comparative approach, utilizing the Miles and Huberman method for data analysis. The results show that 120 of the 181 words in the selected sample are common words, meaning the remaining 61 words are uncommon. This study recommends incorporating these uncommon words into Arabic language teaching through practical activities such as linking words to pictures, composing words, and writing sentences and short stories.
