Abstract
This study aims to analyze the idiomatic expressions found in the extensive reading texts of Silsilah al-‘Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk, particularly in the fourth volume, first section, and to examine their semantic meanings and contextual functions in Arabic language usage. The research employed a qualitative approach using library research as the main method. The primary data were collected from the extensive reading texts contained in the selected volume, while supporting data were obtained from dictionaries, semantic references, and previous studies related to idiomatic expressions and Arabic language teaching. The data were collected through documentation techniques by identifying, classifying, and analyzing idiomatic expressions based on their linguistic and idiomatic meanings. The findings reveal that the idiomatic expressions in the texts contain various semantic characteristics, including religious, linguistic, literary, and figurative meanings that reflect the cultural and communicative aspects of Arabic language use. The study also indicates that idiomatic expressions contribute significantly to enriching learners’ understanding of natural Arabic expressions and improving their comprehension of contextual meanings in communication.
