Abstract

This study aims to design language games for teaching Arabic to beginner learners based on the supporting vocabulary found in Al-'Arabiyah Baina Yadaik (Volume 1). The need for interactive learning media that facilitates vocabulary acquisition and supports the development of basic language skills—especially at the beginner level—motivated this research. A descriptive-analytical method with a library research approach was employed. The primary data source was Al-'Arabiyah Baina Yadaik, supplemented by linguistic and educational references as secondary sources. Data were collected through document analysis and processed via data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The study identified 107 supporting vocabulary items out of 195 total vocabulary in the book that can serve as the foundation for language game design. Based on these items, thirteen models of language games were developed, classified according to the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The results demonstrate that language games can serve as engaging, rule-based instructional media that motivate learners, ease vocabulary acquisition, and promote the development of multiple language skills simultaneously.
