Abstract

This study aims to identify the similarities and differences between interrogative particles in Arabic and Indonesian, and to utilize this knowledge to develop the speaking skills of Indonesian learners. The researcher employed a descriptive-analytical approach through a contrastive study, analyzing the interrogative particles in both languages ​​and comparing them in terms of meaning and usage. The research findings revealed similarities between the two languages ​​in the general function of interrogative particles, such as asking about person, thing, time, place, reason, and number, which contributes to facilitating the learning of Arabic. The study also found clear differences, particularly in the grammatical system and the distinction between animate and inanimate nouns, as well as the presence of specific particles in Arabic, such as هل  (hal) and همزة (hamza), which do not have direct equivalents in Indonesian. Furthermore, the results indicated that contrastive analysis contributes to predicting linguistic errors and helps in preparing appropriate educational exercises, especially for developing speaking skills through dialogue activities and oral exercises. Therefore, the study recommends using the contrastive approach in teaching Arabic to Indonesian speakers, with a focus on communicative activities that enhance speaking skills.;
