Abstract

The idea for this study stems from the importance of negation patterns as linguistic elements that play a role in accurately interpreting Islamic law. And this study aims to identify negation styles found in the book Taudhih al-Ahkam in the chapters of Salam, Loan, and Pawn, and to explore their utilization in developing Arabic speaking skills. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical method, data were collected from the three chapters, classified into explicit and implicit negation, and analyzed linguistically and jurisprudentially. The findings reveal 38 negation styles, with explicit negation dominating at 94.7% through no (68.4%), what (10.5%), did not (7.9%), and not (7.9%), while implicit negation accounts for 5.3% only. These styles serve jurisprudential functions in determining the validity and permissibility of financial transactions. The study proposes a four-stage instructional model for speaking skill development: linguistic preparation, guided practice, free practice, and evaluation. It concludes that integrating authentic jurisprudential texts into Arabic language instruction effectively enhances communicative competence and expressive fluency. The research findings demonstrate that the methods of negation in legal texts not only serve an informative function but also constitute an integrated semantic system that directly impacts the arrangement and classification of legal rulings. Furthermore, these methods, ranging from explicit to implicit, provide rich educational material for developing analytical communicative competence, which represents one of the highest levels of speaking skills in Arabic language teaching.
