The Difficulties of Learning Arabic Grammar Among Ar-Raayah University Students and Methods of Overcoming Them صعوبة تعلم النحو لدى طلاب جامعة الراية وطرق علاجها

Abstract
Arabic grammar originally emerged to preserve the Arabic language and the Holy Qur’an from linguistic errors. However, over time it developed into a highly detailed and complex discipline, causing difficulties for many learners, including students at Raayah University. This study aimed to identify the difficulties faced by first-level students in learning Arabic grammar, analyze the factors contributing to these difficulties, and propose suitable solutions. The study employed a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were collected through observation, interviews with students, teachers, and experts in Arabic language education, in addition to documents and previous studies. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The findings revealed that students face several difficulties, including understanding grammar materials, relating examples to grammatical rules, distinguishing between similar rules, and applying grammatical analysis as well as creating new examples. The study also showed that these difficulties stem from factors related to students, such as lack of self-confidence and insufficient review, as well as factors related to the textbook, such as difficult language, excessive marginal notes, insufficient parsing examples, and unsuitable exercises. The study recommended selecting textbooks more appropriate to students’ levels, developing teaching through mind maps and tables, increasing practical exercises, and allocating more time for grammar practice and parsing activities.
