Abstract

The development of modern lifestyle and the influence of digital media cause the decrease of attention of some Muslim youth toward Islamic values, so that a da’wah approach that is more creative and suitable with the interest of the young generation is needed. This research aims to know the da’wah efforts carried out by the Pendaki Muslim community in instilling Islamic values to Muslim youth through mountain climbing activities. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interview, and documentation conducted in the Mount Ciremai climbing activity through the Sadarehe route, Majalengka. The results of the research show that the Pendaki Muslim community succeeded in integrating natural activities with Islamic values through the implementation of congregational prayer, habituation of Islamic morals, teamwork, and da’wah bil-hal through the example of community members. In addition, the natural environment gives a positive influence on the improvement of spirituality, brotherhood, and social awareness of participants. This research concludes that mountain climbing activities can become a contemporary da’wah media that is effective, contextual, and relevant with the character of present Muslim youth.
