Abstract

This study aims to analyze the problems in teaching speaking skills among middle school students at Mafaza Indonesia Institute, Garut, and propose appropriate pedagogical solutions. Speaking skill is a fundamental pillar of communicative competence, serving as the primary means for oral interaction. The researcher employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively. The study was conducted during the 2025–2026 academic year. The findings reveal that problems in teaching speaking skills are categorized into linguistic and non-linguistic factors. Linguistic problems include difficulties in pronunciation, limited vocabulary, and grammatical challenges. Non-linguistic problems involve low motivation, lack of self-confidence, and an unsupportive language environment. To address these issues, the study proposes intensifying dialogue activities, creating a conducive language environment, diversifying teaching strategies—such as role-play—and enhancing teachers' pedagogical competence. These solutions aim to foster a more effective learning atmosphere that encourages students to use Arabic naturally and confidently in various contexts.
