Abstract
This study aims to identify how the picture guessing game is implemented in teaching Arabic vocabulary and to examine its effectiveness in facilitating students’ understanding of vocabulary at Al-Imam Islamic Boarding School, Sukabumi. The researcher chose this topic because vocabulary mastery plays an important role in acquiring language skills, while many students still experience difficulties in understanding and using Arabic vocabulary. Therefore, interactive learning media are needed to improve students’ comprehension and learning motivation. This study employed a quantitative method with a one-group experimental design using a pre-test and post-test (One Group Pretest-Posttest Design). Data were collected through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation, and then analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test and N-Gain. The results showed that the use of the picture guessing game increased students’ participation and improved their understanding of Arabic vocabulary, as indicated by the increase in the mean score from 36.94 in the pre-test to 76.67 in the post-test. In addition, the Paired Sample T-Test showed a statistically significant difference between the two tests, while the average N-Gain score was 0.63, which falls into the moderate category. Based on these findings, the study concludes that the use of the picture guessing game was moderately effective in facilitating students’ understanding of Arabic vocabulary at Al-Imam Islamic Boarding School, Sukabumi.
