Abstract

Oral expression is a part of speaking skills. Speaking skills itself is one of the four language skills. Therefore, mastering oral expression is considered important. One of the keys to success in mastering oral expression is the mastery of language appreciation (tadzawwuq lughawi). Language appreciation is an official course at Institut Muslim Cendekia. This article aims to determine the extent of the influence of learning the language appreciation course on the development of oral expression among fifth-semester female students at Institut Muslim Cendekia. This study is field research using a quantitative approach. The data collection methods used by the researcher were questionnaires, interviews, and library research. The research sample was randomly selected from the entire research population, consisting of 51 female students. The data analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel Data Analysis Feature and SPSS through simple linear regression analysis. The results of the study indicate that the language appreciation course has a positive effect on the development of oral expression among fifth-semester female students at Institut Muslim Cendekia, with the equation: ŷ = 9,564 + 0.531X. This means that if the value of X increases by one unit, the value of Y will increase by 0.531.
