Abstract
This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using the Scrabble game in improving vocabulary mastery among Female high school students at Bina Madani Islamic Boarding School, Bogor, through Al-‘Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk textbook. The researcher employed an experimental method using a One Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The population of this study consisted of 163 students, while the sample included 69 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pre-test, post-test, non-participant observation, and unstructured interviews. The data were analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test and N-Gain analysis with Excel and SPSS programs. The findings showed that the mean score increased from 75.5 in the pre-test to 85.4 in the post-test, with an improvement of 9.9 points. The result of the Paired Sample T-Test revealed that the significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) was 0.000, which was lower than the significance level of 0.05. This indicates a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. Meanwhile, the N-Gain result was 0.3281, categorized as a moderate gain level. These findings indicate that the use of the Scrabble game was moderately effective in improving students’ vocabulary mastery and also increased their motivation and classroom participation.
