Abstract
This study stems from the importance of rhetoric in the Qur’an as a key to understanding the precision of meanings, depth of implications, and beauty of expression, as it reveals the subtleties of Qur’anic eloquence and contributes to developing learners’ linguistic awareness and analytical skills. The study focuses on imperative rhetorical structures in Surah Al-Muddathir due to their richness of meaning and diversity of rhetorical functions. It aims to analyze these structures, identify their rhetorical meanings, and explore ways of applying them in the teaching of rhetoric. The study employs a descriptive-analytical method through the examination of Qur’anic verses with reference to classical works of exegesis and rhetoric, such as Ruh al-Ma‘ani and Tafsir al-Maraghi, alongside an applied pedagogical approach based on the inductive method. The findings suggest that these structures include forms such as vocative expressions, prohibitions, interrogatives, and commands, which extend beyond their literal meanings to convey various rhetorical purposes, including alerting, guidance, denial, reproach, and threat, reflecting the strength and depth of Qur’anic expression. The study also seeks to demonstrate the potential of employing these meanings in teaching rhetoric to enhance students’ analytical abilities and linguistic sensitivity, and to improve the effectiveness of learning by linking theory with practice within the context of the Qur’anic text.
