Abstract

Arabic essay writing (insyā’) is one of the important Arabic language skills that reflects students’ ability to express ideas correctly and systematically. However, mastering this skill requires proficiency in various linguistic elements. This study aimed to determine the effect of linguistic obstacles in learning written expression on Arabic composition writing skills among female students in the language preparation department at Institut Muslim Cendekia (IMC). The study used a quantitative approach with a field research method. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS and Ms. Excel on a sample of 80 female students out of a population of 100 students. The results showed that the regression equation was ŷ = 6.08 + 0.56x, indicating that increasing linguistic obstacles affect weak writing skills. The correlation coefficient (R=0.679) indicated a strong positive relationship between the two variables, while the coefficient of determination (R²=0.460) showed that linguistic obstacles contributed 46% to the weakness in Arabic composition writing skills among the students. Therefore, it can be concluded that these obstacles have a significant effect on Arabic composition writing skills.
