Abstract
This study is motivated by the importance of phonological mastery in learning Arabic for non-native speakers, particularly Indonesian students who often face difficulties in pronouncing Arabic sounds that do not exist in their mother tongue. This research aims to identify pronunciation errors and analyze the effect of learning these sounds on the ability to maintain accurate speech and avoid phonological errors (lahn). The study employs a quantitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method, involving 34 students from the language preparation program. Data were collected through questionnaires, pronunciation tests, observations, and interviews, and analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple regression analysis. The results indicate that common errors occur in sounds such as (ʿayn, ṣād, thāʾ, qāf), and reveal a weak correlation between phonological learning and the ability to avoid errors, with a correlation value of 0.27083. These findings suggest that phonological instruction alone is insufficient without intensive practice and a supportive language environment. The novelty of this study lies in examining the direct relationship between learning specific Arabic sounds and maintaining accurate speech, along with its implications for developing more effective teaching strategies.
