Abstract

Maharah kalam (speaking skill) is one of the essential in learning Arabic. However, in reality, many students still experience difficulties in mastering speaking skills. One of the widely used Arabic learning textbooks is Al-'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik, which contains various educational as supporting media in teaching maharah kalam. This study aims to determine the extent of the influence of the pictures contained in the book on the speaking skills of female students at the i'dad level at Ar-Raayah University. The scope of this study is limited to the female campus environment of Ar-Raayah University. This study employed a quantitative method with a field research approach (al-maidani). The results of the regression analysis showed a positive relationship between the use of pictures and speaking skills, where every one-unit increase in the use of pictures was followed by an increase in speaking skills of 0.345. Meanwhile, the coefficient of determination value (R Square = 0.107) indicated that the use of pictures contributed 10.7% to the variation in speaking skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the educational pictures in Al-'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik Volume 2 Part 1 play an important role in supporting the teaching and learning process of maharah kalam for female students.
