Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of speaking skills in Arabic language learning and by the limited ability of female students to express ideas orally due to insufficient mastery of vocabulary and language structures. This study aims to identify the foundations of enriching speaking skills through free reading activities and to describe the process of enriching speaking skills through reading the works of Adham Sharkawi among undergraduate female students at Institut Muslim Cendekia. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews with female students who had experience reading these works. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the process of enriching speaking skills occurred gradually through exposure to new vocabulary, reinforcement of language structures, development of idea organization skills, and improvement in confidence and speaking fluency. The findings also showed that free reading provides an important foundation for expanding linguistic experience through continuous interaction with texts. The study concludes that free reading plays a significant role in the gradual enrichment of female students' speaking skills in the context of Arabic language learning.
