Abstract
This study aims to identify the verses that contain the stylistic feature of iltifāt (grammatical or rhetorical shift) in the first part (juz) of Surah Al-Baqarah. It is a qualitative research employing a descriptive-analytical approach using the Miles and Huberman design. Data collection was carried out by examining verses that exhibit iltifāt in the first part of Surah Al-Baqarah through a study of the Tafsīr al-Taḥrīr wa al-Tanwīr. The data were then analyzed, presented, and concluded to obtain the findings. The results show that there are nineteen (19) instances of iltifāt in the first juz of Surah Al-Baqarah. These shifts are classified into five types: transition from third person to second person (9 instances), second person to third person (3 instances), first person to third person (1 instance), third person to first person (4 instances), and first person to second person (2 instances).
