Abstract
Speaking is one of the most important skills in learning Arabic, and developing it requires frequent exposure to linguistic input, particularly through listening to authentic linguistic examples such as Arabic oratory. This study aims to investigate the relationship between listening to Arabic oratory and speaking proficiency. The study was conducted on female students in the Language Preparation Department at Institut Muslim Cendekia. The researcher adopted a quantitative correlational approach and used a questionnaire as a tool to collect data from a sample of 94 students. The data were analysed using descriptive analysis and Pearson’s correlation coefficient with the aid of IBM SPSS Statistics 24 and Microsoft Excel. The results of the research showed that the students’ level of listening to Arabic oratory was relatively high, and that their speaking proficiency ranged from average to high. The results of the statistical analysis revealed a statistically significant positive correlation between the two variables, with a correlation coefficient of 0.428, which is a moderate level of correlation. This result indicates that listening practice contributes to the development of students’ speaking skills, alongside other influencing factors such as language practice, motivation and the educational environment. Based on this summary, the study concludes that the practice of listening to Arabic oratory represents one of the effective linguistic methods for supporting speaking skills, thereby emphasising the importance of incorporating listening-based activities into Arabic language teaching programmes.
