Abstract
Vocabulary is one of the key elements in learning Arabic, as it helps students understand texts and express themselves correctly. However, some students struggle to understand and use vocabulary, which affects their academic performance. Therefore, the researcher employed a language games approach to develop vocabulary in a fun and effective way. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of this method in developing vocabulary from the book “Arabic in Your Hands” among female students at the Chibadek Sukabumi Institute of Education, using a quantitative approach with an experimental design (pre- and post-tests on a single group), in addition to data collection through observation and tests, which were analyzed using the N-Gain test. The research results showed a significant improvement in the students’ learning outcomes after applying the language games method, as the average score on the pre-test rose from 75 to 98 on the post-test. In addition, the results of the N-Gain analysis showed that the effectiveness value reached 0.92, which falls within the high category as it exceeds 0.70. This indicates that language games effectively contribute to the development of students’ vocabulary, as they make learning more interactive and engaging, and help students better understand and use vocabulary. Furthermore, language games enhance students’ motivation to participate, create a fun atmosphere that alleviates boredom during learning, and help retain new vocabulary for a longer period. Therefore, the language games approach is considered one of the most suitable methods for teaching Arabic vocabulary, especially for beginners, as it facilitates learning and increases interest in the subject matter.
