Abstract

This study aims to examine the dialogic style found in Surah Yusuf, identify its linguistic characteristics, and explore its contribution to the development of speaking skills among beginner-level learners of Arabic as a foreign language. The topic was chosen due to the need for instructional approaches that support learners in developing oral communication skills through Qur’anic texts that combine linguistic beauty with simplicity of expression. The study employed a descriptive-analytical method by analyzing selected dialogues in Surah Yusuf, identifying their types and expressive as well as communicative characteristics, and explaining their relationship to the development of speaking skills. The findings reveal that the dialogic style in Surah Yusuf contains various communicative situations, including interrogative, imperative, prohibitive, vocative, and expressive forms of hope, which contribute to training learners in using oral expressions in everyday communication. The pedagogical benefits of this dialogic style are reflected in the use of question-and-answer-based conversational exercises, the application of linguistic structures in diverse communicative contexts, and the incorporation of short dialogues suitable for beginner learners, enabling them to practice the language gradually and effectively. Furthermore, the findings indicate that the dialogues are characterized by clarity of meaning, simplicity of linguistic structures, and richness of expressive styles that assist learners in acquiring vocabulary and language patterns necessary for oral communication. The study concludes that the dialogic style in Surah Yusuf contributes significantly to enhancing speaking skills and developing communicative competence among beginner learners of Arabic as a foreign language.
