Abstract

Mountaineering requires effective communication in various field situations. Therefore, Indonesian climbers need to develop Arabic listening and speaking skills to improve interaction in natural and sporting environments. This study aims to collect mountaineering terminology and design a practical curriculum to help educators teach these skills in an accessible way through structured learning units. The researcher used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected from different sources and through interviews with climbers using a Google Form. The terms were compiled, then translated and verified using online dictionaries, language tools, and reference books. The study produced three main findings. First, it identified 101 mountaineering-related terms. Second, it showed that an effective curriculum can be developed through instructional units containing dialogues, texts, and exercises focused on listening and speaking practice. Third, it highlighted the use of two teaching methods: the Direct Method, which connects words directly to objects or actions without translation, and the Audio-Lingual Method, which uses repetition and intensive listening to build correct speaking habits.
