Abstract
This study examines the Qur'anic quotation (iqtibās) method as a pedagogical strategy for developing speaking skills among advanced-level learners of Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL), with Surah Yusuf as the primary source. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach with the Miles and Huberman data analysis model, the researcher identified thirteen Qur'anic verses drawn from the dialogues of the Prophet Ya'qub (peace be upon him) with his sons, from which fifteen eloquent expressions suitable for quotation were extracted. The selection criteria emphasised linguistic richness, communicative applicability, and semantic independence—qualities aligning with C1 proficiency descriptors under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The findings demonstrate that integrating these verses into structured oral activities—including dialogue practice (hiwar), verse-presentation exercises, visual-prompt discussions, and sentence-transformation drills—significantly enhances speaking fluency and rhetorical confidence among advanced AFL learners. The study recommends activating Qur'anic quotation as a systematic pedagogical tool that bridges content quality with depth of meaning in Arabic language instruction.
