Abstract

The importance of this topic becomes evident through the need to examine the reality of teaching speaking skills in educational institutions concerned with teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, including the Qur'anic school affiliated with the Indonesian Supreme Council for Islamic Preaching. By relying on clear scientific standards, such as the criteria developed by Abdurrahman Ibrahim Al-Fawzan, it becomes possible to highlight the appropriateness of the current method in achieving the desired oral proficiency, thus opening the door for improving and developing educational practices. This research aims to evaluate the teaching method for speaking skills at the Qur’anic School of Dewan Da’wah and its alignment with the standards of Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Ibrahim Al-Fawzan. The research adopts an evaluative study methodology within a qualitative framework, focusing on the analysis of data collected from interviews, observations, and document studies. This approach aims to explore the effectiveness of teaching methods in learning Arabic. The study reveals that the teaching method for speaking skills relies on five main criteria: message delivery, fluency, pronunciation accuracy, grammatical correctness, and vocabulary enrichment. The research shows that pronunciation accuracy is the only criterion that is well achieved. However, the other criteria are not fully met due to the limited conversational material, insufficient opportunities for students to speak in Arabic, and the use of Arabic being confined only to the conversation class, without extending it to a broader educational environment.
