Abstract

This study aims to analyze the character of the contemporary preacher as presented in Surah al-Muddaththir verses 1–7 and to explore the relevance of its moral, spiritual, and psychological values in addressing the challenges of modern Islamic preaching. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research and thematic Qur’anic interpretation. Data were collected from primary sources, including the Qur’an and classical tafsir works such as those of Ibn Kathir, al-Tabari, al-Qurtubi, and Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, as well as secondary sources related to Islamic communication, moral education, leadership, and contemporary da‘wah studies. The data were analyzed through descriptive-analytical methods using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Surah al-Muddaththir verses 1–7 construct an ideal framework for the contemporary preacher characterized by proactiveness, God-centered orientation, moral purity, avoidance of corruption, sincerity, and psychological resilience. These values provide ethical guidance for contemporary da‘wah practices, particularly in responding to challenges arising from digital media, commercialization of religion, and ideological polarization in modern society.
