Abstract
Indonesian or second language interference may occur in the daily Arabic conversations of female students at Universitas Ar-Raayah Sukabumi. This phenomenon represents a form of linguistic error that prompted the researcher to conduct this study due to its significance. This study aimed to describe the manifestations of Indonesian linguistic interference in the daily Arabic conversations of seventh-level female students at Institut Muslim Cendekia during the 2025–2026 academic year, and to uncover the factors influencing this phenomenon. The study employed a qualitative case study approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through auditory observation of Arabic conversations, semi-structured in-depth interviews with dormitory supervisors, the head of the language department, class leaders, and students, as well as documentation. The researcher applied the Miles and Huberman model for data analysis. The findings revealed that linguistic interference occurs at seven levels: phonological, lexical, grammatical, morphological, stylistic or cultural, semantic, and vocabulary-based. Two categories of influencing factors were also identified: internal factors, including weak motivation, language anxiety, cognitive gaps, and automatic translation; and external factors, including the absence of immediate correction, social environmental pressure, and the presence of contemporary academic Arabic terminology. These findings underscore the necessity of systematically strengthening the language environment and providing contextual Arabic instruction to reduce interference and enhance communicative competence.
