Abstract
This study aims to examine the use of interrogative styles in teaching speaking skills to beginner non-native Arabic learners through identifying the types of interrogative styles found in the chapter on maintaining kinship ties in the book Al-Adab Al-Mufrad, analyzing their linguistic and pedagogical functions, and explaining the possibilities of their application in the learning process. This study employed a descriptive-analytical method through text analysis, identification of interrogative styles, and their classification based on their meanings and functions. The findings revealed a variety of interrogative styles, such as hal, mā, a laysa, alā, and ara'aita, whose functions range from genuine interrogatives to rhetorical interrogatives expressing affirmation, motivation, and warning. The study also revealed the possibility of employing these styles in teaching speaking skills through dialogue activities and question-and-answer exercises, as they contain linguistic elements and pedagogical values that can be utilized in designing instructional situations suitable for beginners. Accordingly, the study concludes that interrogative styles represent linguistic and pedagogical material that can be utilized in designing instructional activities to support the teaching of speaking skills for beginner non-native Arabic learners.
