Abstract
Vocabulary is one of the essential elements in learning Arabic, since learners’ ability to understand and use the language is closely related to their vocabulary mastery. Limited vocabulary comprehension may cause difficulties in understanding meanings and reduce classroom interaction, especially for non-native Arabic learners. Therefore, vocabulary instruction requires appropriate methods and media that can enhance learners’ motivation and help them understand vocabulary more effectively. This study aims to investigate the use of the picture and word matching game in Arabic vocabulary learning and its role in improving vocabulary comprehension among middle-level female students at Ma’had Al-‘Amal Al-Jamā‘ī Sukabumi. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed through data organization, classification, and interpretation. The findings revealed that the picture and word matching game increased students’ interaction and participation during the learning process, helped them understand vocabulary and connect words with their meanings more clearly, reduced boredom, and improved learning motivation. In addition, the game strengthened students’ vocabulary retention through repetition and visual association during the learning activities.
