Abstract

This study explores the utilization of the TikTok application in teaching Arabic morphology (ṣharf) to Indonesian learners of Arabic as a foreign language. Arabic morphology, regarded as the foundation of linguistic understanding, poses significant challenges for non-native learners due to its complex system of roots and patterns. To address these challenges, the study examines how TikTok, as a multimedia-based platform, can be employed to facilitate the learning of morphological rules through visual, auditory, and textual integration. Adopting a qualitative descriptive method, the research analyzes TikTok’s educational potential based on the principles of Richard Mayer’s Multimedia Learning Theory, which emphasizes learning effectiveness through multi-sensory channels. Findings indicate that TikTok can enhance morphological learning through three stages: presentation (introducing rules via short, multimodal clips), practice (interactive and creative application of forms), and evaluation (instant feedback and reinforcement). The study concludes that TikTok’s interactive and engaging features make it an effective pedagogical tool for teaching Arabic morphology, especially in the Indonesian context, where digital learning and TikTok use are widespread. Moreover, it highlights the importance of structured instructional design, teacher training, and ethical digital practices to ensure that TikTok-based instruction aligns with educational objectives and maintains linguistic accuracy.
