Konsep Pendidikan Islam Perspektif Ibnu ʿAbd Al-Barr Melalui Kitab Jami’ Al-‘Ilmi Wa Fadlihi

Abstract
The intellectual and spiritual quality of students is greatly influenced by Islamic education. However, in the modern era, education faces various challenges that tend to focus learning solely on cognitive aspects, while values of manners and deepening the meaning of knowledge have not received optimal attention. Therefore, the thoughts of earlier Islamic scholars who emphasised the integration of knowledge, manners, and character building is important to be re-examined as conceptual references, one of which is the thought of Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the concept of Islamic education according to Ibn Abdil Barr as described in the book Jāmiʿ Bayān al-ʿIlmi wa Faḍlihi. This study uses a library research method with a qualitative approach, which is carried out by describing the contents of the book and analysing them critically in the context of contemporary Islamic education. The results of the study show that Ibn Abdil Barr views Islamic education as a process based on the obligation to spread knowledge, the importance of teacher and student manners, and learning methods that emphasise understanding over memorisation. He divided knowledge into three levels, placing religious knowledge as the most important, and emphasised that education must be fair and scientific. This view shows that the concept of Islamic education offered by Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr is still relevant in the context of modern education, particularly in shaping the character and developing the intellectual and spiritual aspects of students.
