Abstract
This study aims to analyze the role of the bilingual program in developing Arabic speaking skills among high school students at Assalam Islamic Boarding School for Boys in Sukabumi. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, using data collection tools such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the bilingual program implemented in the school—comprising initiatives such as the "Language Court," "One Language Week," and speech training—plays a significantly positive role in enhancing students’ speaking skills. This is achieved by fostering a supportive linguistic environment that provides continuous opportunities for interaction and practice. Notably, the speech training component has proven effective in improving students’ formal expression and enhancing their ability to convey ideas clearly, systematically, and effectively. Despite these strengths, the study also identified several challenges, including a shortage of written resources in foreign languages and a low level of commitment among senior students to consistently use Arabic. Consequently, ongoing evaluation and supervision of the program are essential to ensure its effectiveness and the achievement of its intended outcomes. Overall, the program is expected to contribute to the improvement of students’ language proficiency, serve as a successful model for language discipline within educational settings, and prepare bilingual students who are capable of meeting modern demands and deepening their understanding of religious sciences.
