Abstract

This research addresses the topic of "The Styles of Inshā’ Ṭalabi (Requestive Sentences) in Surah Maryam and Their Utilization in Teaching Language Exercises to Second-Level Students at STIBA Ar Raayah." The topic was chosen due to its importance in understanding the Qur'an and appreciating the beauty of its language, as well as the lack of previous studies that specifically examine this aspect in Surah Maryam. The aims of this study are to identify the verses that contain requestive styles in Surah Maryam and to explore how these styles can be applied in teaching language exercises. This is a qualitative study that employs a descriptive-analytical method, with data collected through document analysis and literature review. The findings reveal that Surah Maryam contains 54 instances of requestive sentences: 25 imperative forms, 2 prohibitions, 16 interrogatives, 9 vocatives, and 2 expressions of wish. Each of these styles can carry either literal or figurative meanings depending on the context. The application of these styles in language teaching is demonstrated through three types of exercises: (1) mechanical drills, such as repetition and substitution exercises; (2) meaningful drills through questions on texts and dialogues; and (3) communicative drills involving sentence formation and answering questions using images and specific styles. The study underscores the significance of integrating Qur'anic rhetorical analysis into language education to enhance both comprehension and practical use.
