Abstract
Vocabulary is the key to language. Experts in second language education agree that vocabulary acquisition is a fundamental requirement for learning a second language and an essential condition for mastering it. It is a crucial component of the language through which words and sentences are understood and through which people communicate. Vocabulary is a primary tool in developing the four language skills. Without understanding the meanings and proper usage of vocabulary, one cannot speak, comprehend what is heard or read, nor write effectively. Accordingly, this study aims to identify the terminological vocabulary found in the book ‘Umdat al-Aḥkām, specifically in the chapters on trade (buyu‘) and zakat, and to explore its utilization in enhancing speaking skills among students of the fourth level of the college department at STIBA Ar-Raayah. This research adopts a descriptive-analytical method by collecting the terminological vocabulary from the aforementioned chapters of the book, and then analyzing it both linguistically and terminologically using Arabic language dictionaries. The study concludes that there are 50 terminological vocabulary items related to Islamic jurisprudence in the chapters of trade and zakat in ‘Umdat al-Aḥkām. These were analyzed in terms of their linguistic and terminological meanings, and sample models were presented to demonstrate how they can be used to develop speaking skills amongof the students of the fourth level of the college department at STIBA AR-Raayah.
