Abstract

Vocabulary is one the fundamental components in learning a foreign language, as it serves as the foundation for developing the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Among these skills, speaking requires students to use appropriate vocabulary accurately and quickly in order to communicate effectively in spoken language. Therefore, effective vocabulary instruction significantly contributes to improving students' speaking competence. This study aims to describe the methods of vocabulary instruction in the development of speaking skills at Darul Hikmah Junior High School in Bima, as well as to reveal the challenges faced by teachers in teaching vocabulary to enhance speaking skills. This research is descriptive in nature, and the method used in this study is both descriptive and analytical. The research shows vocabulary teaching methods for speaking skills at Darul Hikmah Junior High School in Bima include conversation, group discussion, and question-and-answer methods. These methods help students use vocabulary in real contexts, boosting fluency and confidence in Arabic. Teachers face several challenges, Differences in students' proficiency levels, Limited daily vocabulary use, and Low self-confidence. These obstacles affect the effectiveness of language learning, highlighting the need for a supportive learning environment that promotes more effective language use.
