Abstract

The Arabic language is characterized by its vast vocabulary, precision of meaning, and the phenomenon of synonymy, whereby different words may carry closely related meanings while exhibiting subtle distinctions. Understanding these linguistic differences is essential for accurate word comprehension and proper usage, especially for beginners who often misuse synonyms due to the assumption that their meanings are identical or because of limited vocabulary.
Accordingly, this study aims to examine how linguistic nuances (al-furūq al-lughawiyyah) can be utilized to enrich the vocabulary of beginning learners of Arabic. This research adopts a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method. Data were analyzed based on the Miles and Huberman model, which involves three stages: data collection, data display, and conclusion drawing. The study concludes that linguistic nuances can enhance vocabulary acquisition among beginners through appropriate language activities involving targeted vocabulary, such as word games, the integration of synonyms with nuanced meanings in dialogues and reading texts, and a variety of practice exercises in the curriculum. These strategies help learners distinguish the meanings of similar words with the support of teachers or dictionaries, and use them correctly.
