Abstract
Despite the abundance of scholarly works produced in the field of Arabic grammar (nahw), students continue to exhibit considerable weaknesses in reading academic texts written in Arabic.. Among these contributing factors are students’ limited understanding of the grammatical topics taught by instructors in the classroom, their unfamiliarity with complex vocabulary presented in academic texts, lack of motivation to engage with the study of grammar, and insufficient instructional clarity on the part of educators when delivering grammatical content—each of which plays a role in undermining students’ comprehension. This study aims to assess the extent to which students are capable of applying their knowledge of Arabic grammar, as acquired through the textbook Al-Qawāʿid al-Asāsiyyah, which serves as the prescribed grammar resource at Al-Rayah University. The researcher employed a quantitative methodology, relying primarily on numerical data to conduct a structured analysis of the academic material. The findings indicate that the textbook significantly contributes to the enhancement of students’ reading comprehension skills. This is supported by statistical data derived from a questionnaire, revealing a final agreement rate of 79.87%. Such a result falls within the classification of “strong agreement,” thereby confirming the pivotal role of the textbook in developing students’ reading proficiency
