Abstract
This research aimed to determine how watching Arabic films can enhance the desire to practice speaking Arabic among female students residing at the Islamic boarding school of Muallimin Muhammadiah Bangkinang Institute Kota. This study is quantitative research, using a descriptive-analytical method. Data collection techniques included questionnaires, interviews, and observation. Data analysis followed the steps of data collection, presentation, analysis, and conclusion. The results showed that the Muhammadiah Bangkinang Kota Teachers' Institute considers Arabic a compulsory subject for all students. Watching Arabic films weekly, every Sunday night, is part of the educational activities in the female dormitory to encourage their interest in applying Arabic speech. One hundred percent of the students agreed that this activity is enjoyable and not boring. Through this activity, they feel motivated to try using Arabic phrases in their daily lives and desire to learn more Arabic expressions. They begin using phrases heard in the films during conversations with others. Additionally, watching these films boosts their confidence in practicing Arabic speech
