Abstract
Al-Munawwir Dictionary is considered one of the important dictionaries in the field of Arabic language. However, its last update was in 1997, which has resulted in the retention of some outdated vocabulary that is no longer commonly used in everyday life. This lack of updating may reduce its usefulness, especially in the context of teaching modern Arabic, whether to native speakers or non-native learners. Based on this, the study aims to identify the common vocabulary in the Al-Munawwir Dictionary (using the letter "غ" as a sample) in light of the List of Common Arabic Words. The researcher employed a descriptive-analytical method in this study, based on the Miles and Huberman model. Data were collected through reading, comparison, and observation in order to extract commonly used modern vocabulary as found in the Al-Munawwir Dictionary under the letter "غ", in accordance with the List of Common Arabic Words. The data were then analyzed by stating their meanings based on Al-Mu‘jam al-Wasīṭ and Mu‘jam al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah al-Mu‘āṣirah. This study concluded that the number of common words from the Al-Munawwir Dictionary in the modern era (letter "غ" as a sample) based on the List of Common Arabic Words reached 103 words. All of these words were recorded along with the number of times they appeared in the list, and their meanings were provided based on Mu‘jam al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah al-Mu‘āṣirah and Al-Mu‘jam al-Wasīṭ.
