Enhancing Speaking Proficiency through Qur’anic Quotation Techniques from Surah Yunus among Intermediate Arabic Learners as Non-Native Speakers

Abstract

Speaking is one of the most essential language skills and can be developed through rhetorical approaches such as quotations from the Qur’an. Non-native Arabic learners, particularly at the intermediate level, often face challenges in achieving fluency, including pronunciation errors and inappropriate expressions, due to limited exposure to an effective Arabic-speaking environment. While previous studies have explored Qur’anic quotations in language learning, none have specifically focused on utilizing Surah Yunus to improve speaking skills in this learner group. This study aims to enhance speaking competence among intermediate-level learners by employing rhetorical verses from Surah Yunus. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, the researcher collected and analyzed twenty five selected verses based on classical interpretations, then classified and presented the data to draw meaningful conclusions. The findings indicate that Surah Yunus offers a rich pedagogical resource for language instruction. Implementing these verses in practical exercises—such as group discussions, presentations, visual-based questions, and sentence transformation—proved to significantly contribute to the improvement of learners’ speaking abilities
