Abstract
Interrogative expressions serve as rhetorical tools that deepen contextual understanding and intended meaning in religious texts. This study demonstrates that linguistically, interrogation signifies a request for comprehension, while technically it represents an inquiry into the unknown. The research identifies two primary functions of interrogative devices: conceptual and affirmative, with potential rhetorical shifts to convey command, prohibition, glorification, negation, denial, stimulation, or confirmation. Focusing on the prayer section of Imam al-Nawawi's Kitab al-Adhkar, this linguistic analysis employs a descriptive-analytical methodology, examining texts through Arabic rhetorical theory and hadith commentaries. The investigation of eleven hadiths revealed thirteen interrogative instances categorized as: genuine inquiry (8 cases), stimulative questioning (4 cases), and rhetorical affirmation (1 case). Findings indicate that interrogative patterns in prophetic traditions transcend simple information-seeking, functioning as sophisticated pedagogical instruments for teaching, persuasion, and guidance. The study underscores the vital role of applied rhetorical analysis in interpreting religious discourse.
