Abstract

The selection of the Arabic language curriculum at Al-Yusra Institute for Qur’an Memorization stems from the importance of Arabic in understanding the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and from the need for effective curricula in Qur’anic memorization institutes. This study aims to provide an in-depth description of the curriculum implemented in the seventh grade of middle school, analyzing its components—including objectives, content, teaching methods, and assessment strategies—and examining their impact on students’ language development based on test results and behavioral changes. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical method, drawing on literature reviews, interviews with teachers and students, and classroom observations. The findings indicate that the curriculum seeks to foster cognitive, skill-based, and affective aspects by raising students' awareness of the importance of the language and equipping them with essential vocabulary and skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, while also nurturing a love for the Arabic language. It utilizes Al-‘Arabiyyah Bayna Yaday Awladina and Al-‘Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk as primary materials, focusing on vocabulary and structure acquisition through auditory-oral, direct, and implicit approaches without translation. Student learning is assessed through tests, observations, interviews, and assignments. The results show a success rate of 88.52%, alongside significant improvements in students’ self-confidence, engagement, and real-life language use, including transitions from fear to confidence, rote memorization to understanding, and the development of self-directed learning habits. The study recommends ongoing curriculum refinement to address challenges and enhance its effectiveness in achieving the intended educational outcomes.
